The Voice for Business
COMMITTEES
One significant way for members to make the Chamber successful – for themselves and for others – is to get involved. By participating on a committee or task force, members meet people, build business relationships and referral sources, and contribute to goals and objectives of value to the business community and the Chamber.
Ambassador Committee
Welcoming new and current members into the Chamber. Encouraging member participation at chamber events and committees.
2008: meets bi-monthly, second Tuesday of the month, at the DoubleTree Hotel
Chaired by Magda Khordoc, Embassy Suites Hotel ~LAX
Downtown El Segundo (DESI) Committee
Participates with the City in creating an inviting and prosperous downtown. Projects have included a review of the Downtown Specific Plan, and the Murals and Stepping Stones.
2008: meets monthly, second Thursday of the month, El Segundo Chamber Office
Co-chaired by Elyse Rothstein & Brenda Newman
Education Committee
Helps create partnerships between businesses and schools. Projects have included Career Fairs, Mentoring, Adopt-a-School, Reading Tutors and New Teacher Goody Bags. This committee will assist with the annual “Salute to Businesses Supporting Education”.

Government Affairs Committee
Actively monitors, represents, and communicates business legislative interests at regional, state, federal, and international levels.
2008: meets monthly, last Monday of the month, at the Second City Bistro with blackout dates in June, July, August
Chaired by Marcella Low, Gas Company
Military Affairs Committee
Works with business and government to encourage strong relationships and support for our military facilities in Southern California with special emphasis on the Los Angeles Fair Force Base, Space and Missile Systems Center located in El Segundo. They sponsor programs in support of base retention and improvement of the quality of life for military personnel and their dependents.
2008: meets monthly the third Wednesday at the El Segundo Chamber office
